Modestly complex microscopes have a total GDD below 8000 fs2 for wavelengths beyond 1050
nm, thus pulse broadening is not a strong concern for all but the very shortest of pulses. In fact,
a pulsewidth of 200 fs, at 1100m will only stretch to ~230 fs under such conditions.
